Domestic / Residential Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) have been a legal requirement on properties since 1st June 07/ Dec 07 (for sale) & 1st Oct 08 (properties to let)

The domestic energy performance certificate (EPC) should be produced for each property when marketing commences and made available in hard/soft copy format to any prospective buyer or tenant.

The PENALTY for failing to make an EPC available to any prospective buyer or tenant when selling or letting non-dwellings is fixed, in most cases, at £200 per dwelling per day. When a fine is enforced an EPC will still be required.
